Our calculators and tools

The calculators give indicative estimates from the figures you enter and from published, generalised assumptions. They are educational tools, not a loan assessment or an approval. A result that says a scenario “works” is not a promise that any lender will agree; a result that says it doesn’t is not a refusal — real assessments differ from lender to lender, which is exactly why our brokers exist.

Some tools send the figures you enter to our own calculator service to work out the result. Those figures are used only to produce your answer and are not stored, unless you choose to send them to us — for example by booking a chat, where your results ride along with the booking so you don’t have to explain everything again.

Acceptable use

The site and its tools are for your personal, non-commercial use in finding out about home loans and, if you choose, getting in touch with us. You may not:

• Access the site or its calculator services by automated means — bots, scrapers, crawlers, scripts or bulk querying — other than search-engine indexing of our pages in line with our robots.txt.
• Systematically retrieve, sweep or probe our calculators or their services to extract, reconstruct or reverse-engineer the assumptions, parameters, logic or data behind them, or work around any rate limit or access control we apply.
• Copy, reproduce, republish, frame or embed the site, its content, its calculators or their outputs — in whole or in part — on another website, app or product, or use them to build or train a competing tool or service.
• Misrepresent your identity or affiliation, submit false information through our forms, or use the site in a way that is unlawful, harms us or others, or interferes with the site’s operation or security.

Quoting a short passage with a link back to the page is fine. If you’d like to use our content or tools in any other way, ask us — we’re usually happy to talk.

Intellectual property

The site’s content, design, branding, illustrations, copy, calculators, the way they are structured and the results they produce belong to The Finance Family Pty Ltd or our licensors, and are protected by copyright and other intellectual-property laws. Nothing on the site gives you a licence to any of it beyond viewing and using the site as intended.

Lender names and logos shown on the site belong to their owners and appear only to describe the lenders we can arrange finance with.

Links, lenders and third parties

The site links to third-party sites and services — lenders, government revenue offices, our referral partners, booking tools. We don’t control them and aren’t responsible for their content, terms or privacy practices. A link isn’t an endorsement.

Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that can’t be excluded. Otherwise, to the extent permitted by law, we don’t accept liability for loss or damage arising from your use of the site or reliance on its content or calculator results, including loss caused by errors, omissions, interruptions or third-party content.

Privacy

How we collect, hold, use and protect your personal information is set out in our Privacy Policy at thefinancefamily.com.au/privacy, which forms part of these terms.

Changes to these terms, and governing law

We may update these terms from time to time; the current version is always the one published here, with the date it was last updated shown at the top. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.

These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia, and you agree to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of its courts.
